DataFile Technologies has been acquired by ScanSTAT Technologies

2020

Industry: Electronic Medical Records Management

Location: Kansas City, MO

Seller: DataFile Technologies

Buyer: ScanSTAT Technologies

The DVS Group’s Role: Sellside Advisory

The Deal:
ScanSTAT Technologies acquired DataFile Technologies, bringing together two leading providers of health information management solutions to form one of the largest founder-owned Release of Information (ROI) companies in the United States. Kevin Lindsey, Founder and Managing Partner of The DVS Group, originally advised Janine Akers in her 2005 acquisition of DataFile, which at the time was a small medical record scanning business with two scanners and two part-time employees. Over the following 15 years, Janine grew the company to more than 400 employees, establishing it as the fifth largest firm in the United States while making a meaningful impact on employees and charitable organizations. Closing the transaction on March 27, 2020—amid the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic—required significant coordination and focus from all parties. The merger created the third largest firm in the U.S., with more than 800 team members nationwide, and significantly expanded service offerings across document filing, prior authorization, and compliance-driven solutions. The combined organization is well-positioned to address increasing regulatory demands while delivering enhanced technology and service capabilities to healthcare providers nationwide.
